About

Monica has been sharing her love of movement and mindfulness throughout the Durham Region since 2019. She teaches with the intention of creating a welcoming, judgement-free space where students feel safe to show up exactly as they are. Her classes encourage you to listen to your body, make choices that support your needs, and discover what feels best for you each day. Whether you’re moving through gentle yoga, finding stillness in restorative poses, or building strength in fitness classes, Monica hopes you leave feeling better—both mentally and physically—than when you arrived.

Monica first explored yoga in her late teens, but truly fell in love with the practice after experiencing how it helped ease the physical and mental demands of her career in veterinary medicine. What began as a way to manage stress soon became something deeper—an opportunity to move with intention, find balance, and reconnect with herself. After years of joking that she would abandon veterinary medicine to teach yoga on a tropical beach somewhere, she decided to make it official. She completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training with YogaFit in 2019, followed by her 300-hour training in 2021. Her passion for movement continued to grow, leading her to earn her Fitness Instructor Specialist Certification with CanfitPro in 2023 and her Barre Certification with the International Ballet Barre Fitness Association in 2025.

Monica teaches because she believes movement should feel empowering—not punishing. Her favourite styles include gentle hatha, yin, and yoga nidra, offering balance to our often busy and demanding lives. At the same time, she enjoys bringing energy and fun into fitness-based classes that build strength and confidence. Her teaching blends encouragement with compassion, often guiding students to do more than they thought possible while still honouring where they are.

Outside of the studio, Monica loves finding creative ways to share wellness with her community. She offers workshops for local veterinary clinics as a way to support wellness within the profession that shaped her early career, leads outdoor classes whenever the weather allows, and records guided practices for her on-demand yoga nidra membership.

As someone who believes we are never done learning, Monica continues to attend classes and pursue additional training to deepen her knowledge and expand what she can share with her students. She believes yoga and movement are for every body and every person, regardless of background, shape, or size. Her greatest hope is that when you step onto your mat—or into one of her classes—you feel welcomed, supported, and reminded that you are already enough.
